Vava
Vava a prolific goal-scorer and a member of the Brazil team which won the World Cup in 1958 in Sweden.
Vavá, born as Edvaldo Izídio Neto, was a Brazilian footballer who played as a center forward. He was born on November 12, 1934, in Recife, Brazil, and began his football career with the local club Sport Club do Recife.
Vavá is best known for his performances with the Brazilian national team in the 1958 and 1962 World Cups. He was a key member of the legendary 1958 team that won Brazil's first ever World Cup, scoring five goals in the tournament, including two in the final against Sweden. He also played an important role in Brazil's 1962 World Cup victory, scoring four goals in the tournament.
In his club career, Vavá played for a number of Brazilian teams, including Vasco da Gama, Palmeiras, and Atlético Mineiro. He also had a brief stint in Spain with the club Espanyol.
Vavá was known for his powerful shooting, his aerial ability, and his physical presence in the box. He scored a total of 352 goals in his club career, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest Brazilian center forwards of all time.
Vavá retired from professional football in 1970, and went on to work as a coach and scout. He passed away on January 19, 2002, at the age of 67.
Despite his relatively short playing career, Vavá remains a revered figure in Brazilian football. His contributions to Brazil's World Cup victories in 1958 and 1962, as well as his impressive goal-scoring record, have cemented his place in Brazilian football history.
